TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – Authorities in Tuscaloosa have made an arrest after a body was found in the Alberta community Monday, Dec. 16.
Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley said they were called to the 600 block of 35th East Avenue around 2 p.m. when someone found a body on the edge of a wooded area next to a home Monday.
The victim died from a shooting, leading to officials investigating the case as a possible homicide. After investigating, officials said the shooting occurred just after midnight Dec. 16.
On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the Violent Crimes Unit said the victim identified as female was 18-year-old Cameron Jamal Mikquise Thompson.
After further investigation, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Violent Crimes Unit identified and arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting. Authorities say the motive appears to be related to comments the victim posted on social media regarding the suspect’s sexual orientation.
