One person is facing murder charges in connection with a death in central Edmonton last weekend.

An ambulance was called to a house in the area of 106 Avenue and 95 Street at 3 a.m. on Dec. 7 for a medical event.

EMS called police shortly after when Frederick Appiah Danso, 44, was found dead at the scene with injuries consistent with an assault.

An autopsy performed on Wednesday found the cause and method of death were inconclusive pending further investigation.

Abok Madmood, 30, has been charged with second-degree murder.

“We can confirm that the individuals were known to one another, and this tragic event appears to be a domestic violence incident,” Staff Sgt. Andrew Larson with EPS homicide section said in a news release. “The accused is in custody, and we have no concerns for public safety at this time.”
