The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is on the scene in Oxford Station, Ontario, after a child was struck by a vehicle driven by an OPP officer.

The 15-month-old boy is listed in serious but stable condition following the incident that occurred yesterday (May 9) in the village located 70 km south of Ottawa.

According to reports, the officer was in a personal vehicle in a driveway of a private residence and was on duty at the time.

The SIU is now involved and has assigned five investigators to the case.

The SIU is an Ontario agency that investigates police-involved incidents and complaints.
