A Canadian driver faces charges after cocaine bound for Canada was seized at the U.S. border.

Officers intercepted 116 pounds (52.96 kilograms) of cocaine at the Ambassador Bridge bound for Windsor, Ontario on March 21, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a press release.

The commercial truck travelling from Detroit to Windsor was selected for examination, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Officers found three garbage bags of suspected narcotics concealed behind stacks of lumber, officials said.

Border officials said testing later confirmed the substance was cocaine.

A total of 50 bricks of cocaine were seized, along with the truck and trailer, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said. The driver, a Canadian citizen, faces federal prosecution.
