A 12-year-old child is critically injured after a collision in Ontario over the weekend, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police said that emergency crews responded to a farm at around 10 a.m. on Saturday in the area of Highway 6 and Sideroad 2 near Mount Forest.

“It was reported that a child riding on a bicycle collided with a skid steer,” OPP said.

The child was flown to a trauma centre by Ornge air ambulance and remains in hospital.

OPP said the cause of the collision is under investigation.
