Calgary police are urging witnesses to come forward after a young boy was hit by a car in the community of Belmont last week.

It happened in the intersection of Belmont Drive and 210 Avenue S.W. just after 7:30 a.m. on Friday.

Police say the boy was walking across 210 Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk when he was struck by a red 2020 Toyota Corolla headed west.

Paramedics took the boy to hospital in life-altering condition. Police said Monday he remains in hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the Corolla, a woman in her 30s, and a passenger were both taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say speed and impairment aren’t considered factors.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dash-cam footage from the area at the time is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
