17-year-old charged after 17 vehicles set ablaze in Ontario [Video]

A 17-year-old is facing arson charges after multiple vehicles were lit on fire in a Whitby dealership’s overflow parking lot in February and a tow truck was set ablaze in north Oshawa a week later.

Seventeen vehicles in total were torched.

Durham Police responded Feb. 17 to Hopkins Street and Nichols Avenue to a fire call, with multiple vehicles already on fire upon arrival.

Whitby Fire extinguished the fires and no injuries were reported.

One week later, in the early hours of Feb. 24, officers were dispatched to Kentucky Derby Way and Britannia Avenue West in Oshawa for a tow truck that has been set on fire.

Video footage from the dealership fire show three suspects in a secure area pouring an “ignitable liquid” over the cars and lighting them on fire. Police appealed for any witnesses or anyone with video footage, including dashcam, to contact investigators.
