2 Dead, 1 Injured in Indiana Storms [Video]

INDIANAPOLIS — Dozens of warnings went out Sunday afternoon and night as gusty spring storms rolled across the state, causing at least two deaths, one injury, and a lot of damage.

In Valparaiso, the National Weather Service reported that 34-year-old Jagbir Singh from Ontario, Canada, died when his semi truck rolled southeast of the intersection of U.S. 30 and State Road 49. Winds in the area gusted to 81 mph around 2 p.m. Central Time (3 p.m. EDT). News 8 reached out to authorities in Porter County for more details.

According to the National Weather Service, the semi was one of at least four overturned by the strong winds.

Elsewhere, in Elkhart County, high winds knocked over an Amish buggy near State Road 13 and County Road 43, killing one person near Millersburg around 5 p.m., according to the NWS Northern Indiana Office.
