Two people were killed in a car crash in Burnaby early Saturday morning, police confirmed.

The Burnaby RCMP told CTV News a vehicle travelling north on Boundary Road struck another travelling west on Forest Street around 4:50 a.m.

“Life saving measures were attempted on the occupants of the vehicle that was struck, however, they have both been pronounced deceased,” Mounties wrote.

The driver in the other vehicle was taken to hospital with injuries police said are not life-threatening.

Northbound lanes of Boundary Road were shut down for an investigation by the detachment’s criminal collision team and remained so for several hours.

In an afternoon update, police said they haven’t confirmed “all contributing factors” in the crash.

“Road safety is a responsibility that belongs to everyone that shares the road. In the dark and wet months of winter, visibility is low and road conditions are not ideal,” said Chief Supt. Graham …
