Two suspects were shot and killed during a home invasion in Ontario, police say.

It happened in South Glengarry Township, east of Cornwall.

Ontario Provincial Police said that on Sunday at around 9 p.m., officers responded to “an incident that began as a home invasion at a residence on Old Highway 2, where two people suffered gunshot wounds.”

When officers arrived, two men were dead, police said.

The residents of the home weren’t injured, OPP said.

A police spokesperson confirmed to INsauga.com that the two individuals who were killed were suspects in the home invasion.

A third home invasion suspect fled the scene before police arrived, OPP said.

“An extensive search of the area was conducted by the OPP emergency response team, OPP tactics and rescue unit and OPP canine unit. It is believed the individual may have left the area,” OPP said.
