A man is dead after an early-morning crash in Ontario on Wednesday.

Ontario Provincial Police said that at around 5 a.m., emergency crews responded to the scene at Base Line and Norwich Road in Norwich Township, south of Brantford.

A transport truck and a passenger vehicle were involved in the collision, police said.

“The lone occupant of the passenger vehicle, a 22 years-of-age resident of Simcoe was taken to hospital where they were pronounced deceased,” OPP said.

“The lone occupant of the transport truck was uninjured.”

Roads were closed in the area after the incident.

There is no word on the cause.

Police said an investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid.
