Two Mississauga men are among 23 people facing 330 charges after police say they dismantled a “sophisticated drug and firearm trafficking network” that operated in York Region and across the Greater Toronto Area.

The seven-month investigation spearheaded by York Regional Police and dubbed Project Chatter also led to the recovery of 32 illegal firearms, more than 700,000 doses of fentanyl with a street value of over $7 million and large amounts of cash ($136,000 in Canadian currency and $18,000 in American bills), investigators said at a press conference Wednesday morning at police headquarters in York.

York police Deputy Chief Alvaro Almeida described the haul of illegal drugs and guns as “a significant seizure in any jurisdiction in our country.”
