232 break-and-enters over 31 days in Mississauga and Brampton, Ontario [Video]

There were more than 230 break-and-enters over the last 31 days in Mississauga and Brampton.

According to Peel Regional Police data, there were 232 incidents from March 5 to April 5.

Both cities saw their fair share of crimes related to break-ins, with 120 of these incidents happening in Mississauga and the other 112 in Brampton.

This is a 24 per cent increase compared to the same time last month when 186 incidents were recorded.

The data further indicates that the following places were targeted:

70 houses, 10 apartments, seven residential garages or sheds, 30 restaurants, four construction sites, one school, 18 stores, one gas station, 11 offices, and two pharmacies; 17 were simply listed as “other,” and 61 were “unidentified” businesses.

The top common hotspots for these break-ins this month were:

  • Dundas Street—13 occurrences
  • Hurontario Street—six occurrences
  • Main Street—six occurrences
  • Queen Street—10 occurrences
