Authorities are looking for witnesses after a 24-year-old pedestrian was struck late Wednesday night in Burnaby, B.C., leaving her in critical condition.

Burnaby RCMP said the woman was struck by a vehicle near Union Street and Sperling Avenue at around 10:40 p.m.

The detachment said the driver involved stayed at the scene and has been co-operating with investigators, but asked anyone with information on the collision to come forward.

“We have spoken with several witnesses who were in the area at the time, but if you witnessed this incident and haven’t yet spoken to police, or if you have dashcam video in the area, please contact our investigators,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj in a statement.

The RCMP said impairment was not a factor in the collision, but has not commented on a possible cause, or whether the woman was in a marked crosswalk when she was struck.
