3-Alarm blaze hits home, business in North Portland [Video]

Portland Fire and Rescue responded to a fire involving two structures on North Vancouver Avenue, south of North Alberta Street Sunday evening.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Fire and Rescue crews responded to a fire Sunday involving a vacant home and business on North Vancouver Avenue just south of North Alberta Street.

Both structures were damaged in the fire, Portland Fire and Rescue told KGW. While flames and heavy smoke were visible at the scene, none of the structures appear to be a total loss. 

Around 6:09 p.m., a passerby called in to report the blaze. The first engine arriving noted that the fire appeared to be coming from the rear of what was later identified to be a vacant home. That fire was extending to the neighboring business, a wellness center, prompting Portland Fire and Rescue to upgrade the response to two alarms.

Eventually, the response was upgraded to three alarms, bringing in more crews, Portland Fire and Rescue …
