A pursuit involving a suspected stolen vehicle north of Platteville resulted in a fiery head-on crash that killed three people on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. along Highway 85 near Highway 60 north of downtown Platteville, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release Thursday.
Prior to the crash, Weld County Deputies engaged in a pursuit with a GMC Yukon suspected to be stolen.
At Highway 85 and Highway 60, the Yukon drove across the median, into southbound lanes and then crashed into a Toyota 4Runner. The head on crash engulfed the two cars in flames while the occupants remained inside, according to state patrol.
Upon arrival, CSP troopers attempted life saving measures to separate the vehicles and extinguish the fire, according to the department.
