London Morning’s associate producer, Ryan Soulliere, listens to a lot of music for his role, picking tunes for the show. In any given week, that’s about 25 songs. Here are his top three local and Canadian picks from last week.

Allison Russell – Superlover featuring Annie Lennox

Saying the world is going through turbulent times right now is an understatement. In the 1960s, the musical answer to chaos was What The World Needs Now is Love by Hal David and Burt Bacharach. Lyrically, Allison Russell’s new single Superlover has the same tone as the old classic. Russell holds two Juno awards and a Grammy award, but perhaps the biggest prize yet is featuring British music icon Annie Lennox on this new track. Superlover is serene and beautiful with warm vocals. When the news of the day is just too much to take, play Superlover for a short escape from the chaos.
