A gun-pointing incident in Whitby Tuesday led police to 3D firearm-making operations in Scarborough and Whitby, with two people now in custody.
Durham Police responded to an armed person call just before 3 a.m. Tuesday near Applewood Crescent on the town’s east side. Police were told the victims left the residence and were followed by the suspects in a vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and located the suspects, with a search of the vehicle discovering a replica handgun and multiple 3D printed firearm pieces.
The Central West Criminal Investigations Branch and the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit, Criminal Code took over the investigation and search warrants were executed at homes in Whitby and Scarborough. Multiple 3D printed firearm handgun frames, replica firearms and magazines were seized, in addition to a 3D printer and computer.
