407 tolls going up on certain vehicles in Ontario [Video]

If you’re a frequent user of Ontario’s Highway 407, be prepared for possible changes to your toll costs in the new year.

A new rate schedule, starting Jan. 1, 2025, could impact certain vehicles and result in higher monthly driving expenses.

According to a recent news release, officials noted that the toll increase will see rates for light vehicles rise by “three to 14 cents per kilometre,” depending on the time of day and the zone they’re travelling through.

This marks the first toll hike in five years and it comes alongside an increase in several fees, including charges for camera usage, account maintenance and transponder leases.

As a result, 407 ETR says most personal transponder customers can expect an additional $8 on their monthly bills.
