People looking to downsize or those in the market for a more affordable place may want to check out tiny homes for sale across Canada.

While author Henry David Thoreau is often credited as an early inspiration for the tiny-house movement, the modern movement is considered to have started in the 1970s with artists. The tiny-house movement grew in the 2000s with popular reality TV shows such as Tiny House Nation and Tiny House Big Living.

A tiny home is often defined as being between 400 to 600 square feet. However, since a typical Ontario detached home is 2,500 square feet, anything about 1,000 square feet and under could be considered tiny. Unlike mobile homes, tiny homes are not usually found in dedicated parks.

Tiny homes under 500 square feet usually don’t come with land, real estate brokerage Zoocasa noted in a post this week. So Zoocasa put together a list of homes under 1,000 square feet …
