Nearly half of Mississauga residents cited inflation as their primary concern ahead of next week’s federal election.

A recent poll conducted by Nextdoor Canada — a neighbourhood service platform — in partnership with the Samara Centre for Democracy, found that 48 per cent of Mississauga residents cited the cost-of-living as their guiding concern when planning their ballot for next week.

While this metric may not be shocking, the issue was almost an afterthought a few years ago, as in 2021’s federal election, only one in five Ontario voters cited inflation as a critical concern, based on Nextdoor’s data.

“When we compare it to 2021, you can see quite a substantial difference. Now, even long before any campaigns were launched, the cost-of-living has been often highlighted by most Canadians,” CEO of Nextdoor, Christopher Doyle, told INsauga.com.
