A six-year-old child is dead after a single-vehicle crash involving an SUV in southern Ontario, police say.
Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews responded to the scene at the intersection of St. Clair Parkway and West Smith Line in St. Clair Township, northeast of Windsor, at around 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
OPP said all four people who were inside the SUV were taken to hospital.
Three passengers suffered life-threatening injuries and one of them, a six-year-old resident of Walpole Island First Nation, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver had serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Roads were closed in the area for around six hours after the crash.
There is no word on a cause.
“The investigation is still in its early stages,” an OPP spokesperson told INsauga.com.
