The original story, which was posted on Sept. 5, 2024, contained out-of-date numbers that were taken from an earlier report produced by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which operates Pearson.

The number of travellers using Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga each year could grow by some 20 million in the next five to 10 years, the organization that runs the airport says.

Already Canada’s biggest and busiest airport, with nearly 45 million people making their way through its gates in 2023, Pearson will likely see about 65 million annual travellers by the early 2030s, airport officials predict.

In its capital plan, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which runs Pearson, said in early 2024 it’s preparing for the passenger growth to come in the decade or so ahead.
