650 stolen cars recovered in 2024 by border officers in Mississauga and across GTA [Video]

Border services officers in Mississauga and across the Greater Toronto Area have so far this year intercepted more than 650 stolen vehicles that were destined for illegal overseas markets, numbers released on Monday show.

Police in Mississauga and Brampton have for several years now dealt with the fast-growing crime of auto theft, which has grown more rapidly in Peel than anywhere else in Canada, Peel Regional Police brass have said.

Police in Peel, across the province and Canada hope stolen car recovery numbers released on Monday by the Canada Border Services Agency, which works closely with police to battle auto theft, drug smuggling and other crimes, are a sign of things to come.
