90% of national businesses calling on emergency strategies to prevent recession [Video]

Business leaders across Canada are urging the federal government to implement emergency strategies to avoid a recession.

According to a recent survey by KPMG, a national watchdog for Canadian enterprise, most Canadian business leaders (92 per cent) are urging government authorities to dissolve any barriers to technologies that can assist domestic businesses.

Three-quarters of respondents even went as far as to note that their companies now invest as much as their U.S. and global competitors in technology, machinery, equipment, and other tech-based IP, further relaying the urgency for immediate strategies.

Even with this interest in innovation however, 59 per cent of respondents cited that current economic standards prevent them from investing in new tech.

Several solutions were relayed in the KPMG survey to ramp up federal action, which included:

  • Removing interprovincial trade barriers.
  • A comprehensive tax review that would increase domestic competitiveness.
  • Expediting infrastructure projects.
