ADF has a ‘proud record’ with recruitment and support of Indigenous people

Australia Defence Association Executive Director Neil James says the ADF has a “proud record” in its recruitment and support of Indigenous people.

Mr James joined Sky News host Danica De Giorgio to discuss the severe drop in ADF recruitments and lack of defence spending.

“The job of the defence force is the management of applied violence,” he said.

“You have to have people who are capable of doing that.

“But in the case of Indigenous Australians for example the defence force has a very proud record – it produced the first Indigenous service officer 20 years before the first Australian civilian university graduate.”
