No one was hurt in a dramatic early Tuesday morning fire at a construction site at the corner of Robie and Almon streets in Halifax.

Social media images show flames and a heavy, black smoke plume on the 10th floor and roof of the high rise.

Burning roofing materials and several propane cylinders were involved.

It took the 33 firefighters about 20 minutes to bring it under control.

Halifax Fire says a crane operator who was reportedly trapped was able to self-evacuate and is safe.

The cause is still under investigation. No one was hurt and no nearby buildings were damaged.
