Pa. Girl Scouts council fires counselors over using campers pronouns [Video]

One of the largest Girl Scouts councils in Pennsylvania has fired four camp counselors at a popular overnight summer camp after they addressed a camper in the child’s choice of pronouns.

Officials from the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania on Tuesday confirmed to PennLive that they fired the counselors at Camp Small Valley in Halifax after the counselors violated council policy and referred to the child by he/him pronouns.

Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania said the organization is inclusive and serves all girls, but that the actions of the counselors had gone against written guidelines given to staff.
