Officials in South Brunswick are taking steps to redevelop a vacant 162-acre parcel of land on Route 1 in hopes of revitalizing the area, increasing tax ratables and expanding access to a neighboring preserved space.

The former Princeton Nurseries site, which is comprised of three properties at 4405 Route 1, 119 Mapleton Road and 987-1001 Ridge Road, could be redeveloped into a variety of uses.

As one of the largest undeveloped parcels with frontage along Route 1, the Middlesex County property currently contains vegetation, including grass, planted trees and shrubs, and a stream, which runs through the property, according to the plan.
