Police are investigating online threats directed at Brantford General Hospital.

Officers were dispatched to the building, located on Terrace Hill Street, on Thursday.

The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) said the threat was posted on social media and, once they became aware, initiated an external lockdown at the hospital.

“Thanks to the swift response from our police partners, the situation was resolved, and the code was cleared within 30 minutes,” BCHS said in an email to CTV News.

On Wednesday, bomb threats were made to synagogues, museums, malls and art galleries across Canada. Some of them targeted Jewish organizations. The RCMP said additional threats were reported on Thursday.

BCHS confirmed the threats the hospital received were “not bomb-related.”

The Brantford Police Service said a suspect has been identified.

“The accused is in custody in another jurisdiction,” they wrote on social media.

They did not say if that person would face charges.
