River Report: The outlook for hunters using boats during moose season appears to be safe for now [Video]

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – Looking to the near future, the long-term forecast shows positive conditions for hunters who plan to use a boat while harvesting a moose.

With on and off rains over the month, the interior has seen rivers rise and fall. That activity is likely to continue moving into the fall hunting season – in particular moose season.

While long-term forecasts are far less accurate than a standard seven-day forecast they can help point to some predictable expectations.

As we move into autumn the northern areas of the interior might see some warmer than average temperatures along the Yukon River.

Closer to Fairbanks, temperatures are more likely to hold closer to averages which range from high’s of about 58 degrees Fahrenheit to 48 degrees Fahrenheit.

Looking at precipitation, the lower Yukon River is expected to see higher than average rain fall. Meanwhile, the interior should see standard precipitation …
