City of Denver officially buys former DoubleTree shelter building [Video]

DENVER (KDVR) — The city of Denver is investing even more in its effort to help the homeless population.

The city officially bought the property on Quebec Street and 40th Avenue, which was formerly a DoubleTree. They were renting the property before, but now the city owns it and plans to continue using the building to help those experiencing homelessness.

The city closed on the property at 4040 Quebec St. last week for $43 million using state and federal funding. The monthly rent for the property was $83,000, and the rent the city had already paid was applied toward the purchase.
