The 47-year-old man who was the subject of an Alert Ready in the Esgenoopetitj (Burnt Church) First Nation area has been arrested, according to New Brunswick RCMP.
In a social media post at around 2:45 p.m., Friday, RCMP thanked the public and residents “for their cooperation and assistance in this matter” but did not provide details about where the suspect was arrested.
The manhunt for the suspect in a fatal shooting began Thursday afternoon, when officers responded to a call for help. RCMP said they found a 48-year-old man who had been killed by gunfire and another man who had been injured.
About two hours later, they issued an emergency alert warning residents about an “armed and dangerous” suspect identified as 47-year-old Keith Martin.
