Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – Let’s start with the good news.

High pressure will maintain fair weather and summer-like warmth into Friday.

And then?

A cold front will approach late Friday afternoon, bringing increasing chances for showers or a thunderstorm as we head into Saturday, National Weather Service forecasters say.

Timing things out, forecasters say the most widespread rain will be found across Western New York for the bulk of Friday night, moving east into the Genesee Valley and western Finger Lakes late Friday night and early Saturday, then focusing east of Lake Ontario during the day Saturday. Rainfall amounts of a half-inch to an inch are expected in general, although locally higher amounts are possible in WNY.

It will turn much cooler Saturday behind the front, with scattered showers and some lake effect rain east of the lakes by Saturday night into Sunday.

Highs Saturday will only be in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s across WNY, with mid to upper 60’s …
