One dead in crash near Priest Lake closing down the highway [Video]

PRIEST LAKE, Idaho – Idaho State Police are investigating a deadly crash that blocked the highway near Priest Lake for over an hour on Wednesday night.

The crash happened on September 18, around 10 p.m. and Idaho State Police and the Bonner County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

A 67-year-old man was driving a white 1999 GMC Yukon southbound on SH 57.

The vehicle drove left of center, ran off the roadway over the northbound shoulder, and crashed into a group of small trees.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Bonner County Coroner’s Office are investigating the cause and manner of death.

Traffic on SH 57 was blocked in both directions for approximately one hour as the scene was cleared. One lane was opened afterward to allow traffic to pass.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
