SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WETM) — The Southern Tier and other areas of New York will see federal funding after FEMA approved a major disaster declaration.
According to an announcement from Congressman Nick Langworthy’s office on Monday, Sept. 24, federal funding is now available to counties in the Southern Tier and other areas of New York that were impacted by severe flooding caused by Tropical Storm Debby in early August.
The impacted counties are Allegany County, Steuben County, Broome County, Delaware County, Essex County, Franklin County, Jefferson County, Ontario County, St. Lawrence County, and Yates County.

Some of the hardest-hit areas were those in Steuben County, such as Canisteo, Jasper-Troupsburgh High School, Greenwood, and Woodhull, among others.
Governor Kathy Hochul visited Steuben County several days after the storms to assess the damages and Congressman Langworthy toured the county in the hardest hit areas.
