Lebanon braces for intensified attacks ahead of Oct. 7 anniversary as Iran cancels all flights [Video]

Israel issued a stream of evacuation orders Sunday in southern Lebanon, signalling a barrage of air strikes to come on the day before the anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel. Shortly thereafter, Iran cancelled all flights at the country’s airports “amid fears of an imminent Israeli attack.”

In the early evening on Sunday, an Iranian English-language news service reported that Iran’s Aviation Authority would cancel all flights from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday. Iran worries about a counterattack after it sent nearly 200 missiles into Israel last Tuesday night in retaliation for Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and top Iranian general Abbas Nilforoushan in Beirut on Sept. 27.

Later Sunday, Reuters reported that Iranian security officials told the news agency that the country’s Quds Force commander, Esmail Qaani, has not been heard from since Israeli strikes on Beirut late last week. He had travelled to Lebanon after the killing …
