As Israel launched deadly strikes in Gaza on Oct. 6, its forces also continued battering Beirut’s southern suburbs, in the most intense bombardment of the Lebanese capital since the conflict escalated last month. Israel’s military said it was conducting targeted strikes on Hamas and Hezbollah, coming as the country prepares to mark one year since the Palestinian militant group’s Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel.
