SMALL TOWNS: The model circus builder from Kewaunee [Video]

KEWAUNEE, Wis. (WBAY) – Over the last 65 years, a Kewaunee man has enjoyed a unique hobby that he’s turned into a business.

He builds models of circuses, creating everything from scratch using wood and fabric, and he’s sold them all over the world.

This week in Small Towns, we travel to the lakeshore to see his incredibly detailed work.

Rodney Mushero’s latest circus creation is just a few days from completion. It’s destined for a business owner in Canada.

And while Rodney has paying customers in faraway places like Australia, Germany, Ireland and all over the U.S., he’s happiest when one of his model circuses is enjoyed by young eyes.

“The greatest joy I get is when I set it up and little kids will come up and stare at it,” says Rodney.

Perhaps that’s because Rodney sees himself in those children.
