NDN Collective brings people together to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – In 1990, South Dakota was the first state to officially celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day on the second Monday of October each year.

“It’s about centering Indigenous people and our journey and our struggle and our history and culture that were part of both the present, the past and the future,” Nick Tilsen, the founder and CEO of NDN Collective, said.

In celebration of the holiday, NDN Collective brought hundreds of community members together to honor Indigenous cultures, traditions and the importance of community investment.

“To remind the country and remind the world that this entire nation was built on the stolen lands of Indigenous people and that we’re still here to this day, and we’re still fighting for a better future for our people,” Tilsen said.
