Aclara Resources Inc (TSX:ARA, OTC:ARAAF)chief operating officer Barry Murphy talked with Proactive’s Stephen Gunnion about the company’s latest progress toward becoming a vertically integrated rare earth producer. In the interview, Murphy highlighted the completion of a conceptual engineering study for Aclara’s rare earth separation facility, conducted in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Research Council and Hatch. The results of this study have positioned Aclara as a potential leader outside of Asia in heavy rare earth production.

Murphy emphasized, “The recoveries associated specifically with the heavy rare earths are all north of 90%, so that’s really good news.” He also discussed how the study’s estimated capital expenditure of $354 million underscores the company’s commitment to reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact.

Looking ahead, Aclara aims to advance the project toward a pre-feasibility study, with plans to explore alternative extraction chemistries and optimal facility locations in the United States.
