West Alabama head start teacher named Teacher of the Year [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Hard work in the classroom has paid off for one west Alabama teacher,

The Alabama Head Start Association named Jamyne Wilson as its Teacher of the Year after more than a decade at Alberta Head Start.

Wilson has worked with infants as young as six weeks and children up to three years old.

But, no matter their age, the goal remains the same: Teach them basic personal and educational skills to advance to the next level.

Wilson’s co-workers nominated her for the award, given out at a statewide conference recently.

She feels proud the Alabama Head Start Association recognized the difference she’s making while teaching children.

“It’s something that I’m passionate about anyway. So, it was just a great honor to receive the award,” Wilson said. “But the award is not only dedicated to me. It’s dedicated to all the teachers who help students as we continue to …
