An arson investigation is underway after a fire destroyed two trailers in Cambridge.

Waterloo Regional Police and the Cambridge Fire Department were called to the fire in the Dundas Street North and Samuelson Street area on Friday around 1 p.m.

“Emergency services responded to the area and Cambridge Fire Department extinguished the fire,” Const. Melissa Quarrie told CTV News.

On Saturday, the Cambridge Fire Department confirmed to CTV News the fire happened at the encampment located near the Dundas Street North overpass.

No injuries were reported but police say two trailers were destroyed.

Fire crews were still at the scene Saturday morning.

WRPS is investigating the fire as an arson.

“We are asking anyone with information who may have been in the area at the time or witnessed anything to contact police,” Const. Quarrie said.

The investigation is ongoing.
