Man dies after single-vehicle crash in Richland County [Video]

Louis D. Rittenberry, 57, of Shelby, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

RICHLAND COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — A man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Richland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

At approximately 9:19 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 57-year-old Louis D. Rittenberry, of Shelby, was traveling north on Rock Road North when his vehicle exited the roadway to the left and up an embankment. 

The vehicle then reentered the roadway before once again exiting the roadway to the right and into a creek. 

Rittenberry was transported to Avita Ontario Hospital by EMS where he was pronounced dead.

The Shelby City Fire Department and Westside Towing assisted police at the scene of the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
