The Highgate Springs border crossing building is set to undergo some major renovations, but before it does, developers are looking for community feedback on the project.The Highgate Springs Land Port of Entry is the crossing point between the United States and Canada that is located at the northernmost point of Interstate 89 and Route 133 in Canada.The U.S. General Services Administration said that some construction on a busy road on the Canadian side of the border is set to increase border crossing traffic by 30%. However, the current Highgate facility, which is just 25 years old, will no longer be big enough to handle all those extra people.The GSA said the new facility is currently in the design and planning phase, and is expected to cost between $150 million and $170 million, which is to be funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
