The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has described himself as the luckiest Regional Minister to have the most effective, accessible, and professional security personnel working with him to superintend over the region.

Speaking on Accra-based Asaasepa Radio, as monitored by GhanaWeb, the firebrand politician said the competent Regional Security Council (REGSEC), which he heads, is the reason why the Ashanti Region has not recorded any major security issues.

“Before the Canadian girls were kidnapped, an Indian had been kidnapped a week earlier and had been rescued. Some students had been kidnapped, but that didn’t make news headlines. The Canadian kidnapping became news because the Canadian High Commission got involved in the matter. But even with them, if we had certain equipment, we would have rescued them within 24 hours.
