TULSA, Okla. — Feeding America, The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Hunger Free Oklahoma presented the Indigenous Food Sovereignty Summit in Tulsa on Thursday. 

“The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, in partnership with Regional Food Bank in Oklahoma City is hosting a convening of hunger relief organizations focused mostly on Native tribes,” said Mark Ford, Director of Native and Tribal Partnerships at Feeding America. 

The summit is the first of its kind and is a collaborative effort to bring experts, food providers, tribal leaders and other stakeholders together to share knowledge and experience in food security and food sovereignty in local and regional Tribal communities. 

“We want to bring the tribes together to help them share the exciting things they’re doing to address food insecurity and hunger in their own communities and looking for ways tribes can build a coalition to support each other through those endeavors,” said Ford.
