Some bills even say “in copy we trust.” Check your bills before taking them as tender.

BOISE, Idaho — The Ontario Police Department has recently received reports about prop currency being passed around.

When taking a glance at the cash, it looks like real bills, even somewhat damaged on purpose. Ontario Police said some bills may also have a coating on them to prevent the ink from a currency marker contacting the paper.

Upon a closer look, the money is identified as prop money for entertainment purposes only.

Police encourage residents to take a moment to inspect any cash in their possession and see if it is legit. Examine bills before accepting the money as payment.
