Canada Post workers rallies held in Mississauga, Hamilton and Ottawa [Video]

Rallies are planned in support of Canada Post workers in Mississauga, Hamilton and Ottawa on Thursday.

For nearly a year, Canada Post and the union representing its workers, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, have been in contract talks. Last weekend, talks were “less productive” than the union hoped.

The Crown Corporation said in a news release late Monday that neither side has provided the minimum 72-hour notice of their intent to start a labour disruption, but the Canadian Union of Postal Workers repeated a threat on its website that it “won’t shy away from taking the next step” if there is no real movement at the bargaining table.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers said they are looking for fair wages, safe working conditions, the right for all workers to retire with dignity and the expansion of public postal services for all communities.
