School bus leaves scene after woman struck in Ontario; victim in critical condition: police [Video]

A woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a school bus in Ontario this week, police say.

York Regional Police said that officers responded just before 3 p.m. Tuesday to Yonge Street, north of Silverwood Avenue in Richmond Hill, after a pedestrian was struck.

“When they arrived on scene, they located an 84-year-old woman with a head injury and found the school bus had left the scene,” police said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital but her condition was determined to have been more serious and she was transferred to a trauma centre.

She remained in critical condition as of Wednesday, police said.

The driver of the bus has been identified and an investigation is ongoing, police said.

Const. Lisa Moskaluk told INsauga.com that officers haven’t classified the collision as a hit-and-run.
